Piotr Didyk is an Associate Professor at Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) in Switzerland, where he leads the Perception, Display, and Fabrication Group. He is also a co-director of the Master’s Program in Artificial Intelligence at USI. His research combines perception, computation, and hardware to develop advanced display and fabrication techniques. His interests include human perception, novel display technologies, image and video processing, rendering, 3D printing, and computational fabrication. Before joining USI, he was an Independent Research Group Leader at Saarland University, the Max Planck Institute for Informatics, and the Cluster of Excellence MMCI in Germany. He also spent two years as a postdoctoral researcher at MIT and obtained his Ph.D. from Saarland University and the Max Planck Institute for Informatics. In 2018, he received an ERC Starting Grant, and in 2019, he was elected a Junior Fellow of the European Association for Computer Graphics. He serves as an Associate Editor for ACM Transactions on Graphics and ACM Transactions on Applied Perception, and as a Steering Committee Member of the ACM Symposium on Computational Fabrication. He has recently served as a co-chair for the ACM Symposium on Computational Fabrication and the Computational Visual Media Conference.
