Elmar Eisemann is a Professor in Computer Science, heading the group “Computer Graphics and Visualization” at the TU Delft. Before, he was an Associate Professor at Télécom ParisTech (ENST) / CNRS-LTCI and a senior researcher and group leader in the Cluster of Excellence (MMCI) at Max-Planck-Institute and Saarland University. He studied at the École Normale Supérieure in Paris and received his PhD from Grenoble Universities at INRIA Rhône-Alpes. During his PhD period, he spent several research visits abroad; at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and Adobe Systems Inc. He was part of various committees, including SIGGRAPH, SIGGRAPH Asia, Eurographics. He is/was member of several editorial boards and fulfilled the role of associate editor for various journals, including jgt, jcgt, Computer Graphics Forum (CGF) and Computers & Graphics. He was local organizer of the Eurographics Symposium on Rendering 2010, 2012, and High Performance Graphics 2012, paper chair for HPG 2015, EGSR 2016, Graphics Interface 2017, and general chair for Eurographics 2018 in Delft. He holds several international patents and (co-)authored various articles in renowned venues. He also first-authored the book “Real-Time Shadows” published by AK Peters. His research covers a broad range of topics, such as real-time rendering, perceptual rendering, visualization, geometry processing, vision, or computational photography. In 2011, he was honored with the Eurographics Young Researcher Award.
